457px) 100vw, 457px\" \/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This little walkable village is located in the heart of southwest Ontario and easily accessible as a day trip especially from London, Ontario.\u00a0\u00a0Of course, you can make any of these day trips a weekend getaway too!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having went to the University of Waterloo, I became quite familiar with the Village of St. Jacobs.&nbsp;&nbsp;As a student, one of my favourite trips was to the Farmers\u2019 Market hosted on Thursdays and Saturdays.&nbsp;&nbsp;Over the years, it has grown to become one of the largest farmers\u2019 markets in Canada.&nbsp;&nbsp;Unfortunately, it was destroyed by a fire in 2013, but was rebuilt keeping the look and authentic vibe in 2015.&nbsp;&nbsp;A new 34,000 square foot building was added, offering more variety to the vendors.&nbsp;&nbsp;Here you will find Mennonite food vendors carrying homegrown vegetables, fruit, meat, baked goods, honey and of course maple syrup.&nbsp;&nbsp;Among the vendors you will find hand-made crafts, quilts, clothing, and local artisans.&nbsp;&nbsp;I have always loved a good farmers\u2019 market and this helped with a student budget back in the day!&nbsp;&nbsp;I still enjoy my local farmers\u2019 market at the Western Fair in London, but enjoy rediscovering this market when we escape the city!&nbsp;&nbsp;I recommend you start your morning here wandering around and grabbing either breakfast or a mid-morning snack at one of the local food vendors.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>St. Jacobs feels like an escape from the everyday life and back to a simpler time.&nbsp;&nbsp;With unique shops, artist studios, boutiques, antique shops, bakeries, restaurants, candy shops, ice cream shops and a craft brewery you can easily spend an afternoon exploring.&nbsp;&nbsp;After exploring the Farmers\u2019 Market, make your way to the Village grab a parking spot at one of the free lots and just browse your way through all the shops along the main drag.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I recommend grabbing lunch at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/jacobsgrill.scvr.co\/\">Jacob\u2019s Grill<\/a>&nbsp;and if you can snag a table on the patio, definitely go for it.&nbsp;&nbsp;My favourite is to grab a bottle of sparkling water and share a salad and pizza.&nbsp;&nbsp;From here, make your way to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.blockthreebrewing.com\/\">Block 3<\/a>&nbsp;to taste some locally brewed beer.&nbsp;&nbsp;A unique venue and great spot to grab a flight or pint of your favourite style of beers.&nbsp;&nbsp;There is always more shopping available or you can consider a leisurely walk on the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontariotrails.on.ca\/index.php?url=trails\/view\/millrace-trail\">Millrace Trail<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are sticking around for dinner, I recommend the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/the-village-biergarten.square.site\/\">The Village Biergarten<\/a>,&nbsp;which has a large outdoor patio and also a cozy indoor space if the weather is not cooperating.&nbsp;&nbsp;You may find some live entertainment too and some great authentic Mexican fare.&nbsp;&nbsp;There is also an ice cream shop located close by too for dessert \u2013 just saying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Looking to make this a weekend trip?\u00a0\u00a0I suggest staying at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marriott.com\/hotels\/hotel-deals\/ykfcy-courtyard-waterloo-st-jacobs\/\">St. Jacobs Courtyard Marriott<\/a>\u00a0which is located close to the Farmers\u2019 Market and right beside the theatre.\u00a0\u00a0This is where we always stay and usually reserve it on points!\u00a0\u00a0If you are staying for the weekend, check out what performance is on at the\u00a0<a
