720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This is before I truly became what is known today as a \u201cFoodie\u201d especially while travelling.&nbsp;&nbsp;Here are some of my go-to-spots across Japan!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Tokyo:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yakitori Ton Ton \u2013 A local place under the train tracks should not to be missed!\u00a0\u00a0The perfect combination of meat on sticks and beer \u2013 enjoy skewers of chicken, pork, gizzard, or octopus.\u00a0\u00a0The options are endless with skewers grilled to perfection.\u00a0\u00a0Paired with a cold beer makes for a wonderful evening.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tunahachi.co.jp\/\"><strong>Tempura Shinjuku Tsunahachi Ginza<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;<\/strong>You may have had me at battered and fried seafood, meat and veggies!&nbsp;Lunch is always a cheaper option than dinner, so I tend to go with the \u2018meal of the day\u2019 having my bigger meal at lunch.&nbsp;&nbsp;What I loved here was the tempura.&nbsp;&nbsp;A more expensive meal, but completely worth it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/zakuzaku.co.jp\/shop\/harajuku\/\"><strong>Zakuzaku<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 When in Tokyo you must visit the colorful character-filled neighborhood of Harajuku.\u00a0\u00a0Here you will find ice cream, fairy floss, street art, vintage clothing stores and did I mention ice cream?\u00a0\u00a0You can enjoy the Croquant Chou, which is a divine pastry used for cream puffs and eclairs \u2013 decadent indeed and similar to a churro, but filled with a smooth custard cream.\u00a0\u00a0There is also soft-serve ice cream layered with crunchy almonds in a glorious waffle cone \u2013 can\u2019t decide, order both!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Toyota (Aichi Prefecture):<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/shubhakamana.jp\/\"><strong>Shubhakaman Toyota<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0\u2013 This may just be the best Indian food I had in Japan!\u00a0\u00a0The butter chicken and naan bread was to die for \u2013 and I bet you can\u2019t eat all the naan bread!\u00a0\u00a0The perfect combination of spice and flavours, at an affordable price.\u00a0\u00a0A nice change to the typical Japanese cuisine.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pizzeria-ilfaro.com\/\">Pizzeria IL Faro<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 Sometimes you need to change it up and who doesn\u2019t want to indulge in an authentic pizza and a glass of wine?&nbsp;&nbsp;The vibe here is Italian in Japan with a cozy atmosphere, Italian music in the background and hints of wood smoke lingering in the air.&nbsp;&nbsp;My favourite pizza was the margherita con prosciutto e rucola and don\u2019t forget to leave room for the tiramisu!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.j-hotel.or.jp\/en\/restaurant\/45178\/\">Teppanyaki Dan<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 Get enchanted by the magic of teppanyaki!&nbsp;&nbsp;This restaurant is small, so make a reservation in advance and grab a table at the counter so you can marvel at the chef\u2019s performance up close.&nbsp;&nbsp;All your senses will engage the flavours, the atmosphere, and the talent!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Nayoga:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Delizioso Italia Da Ebisu \u2013 Most nights I typically enjoyed the spread at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marriott.com\/hotels\/travel\/ngodt-nagoya-marriott-associa-hotel\/?scid=bb1a189a-fec3-4d19-a255-54ba596febe2&amp;y_source=1_NTA0OTQxMS03MTUtbG9jYXRpb24uZ29vZ2xlX3dlYnNpdGVfb3ZlcnJpZGU=\">Marriott <\/a>in the Lounge while in Nayoga, but this was delicious and close by.\u00a0\u00a0Sometimes you just need something different so why not Italian?\u00a0\u00a0Lots of great wine and food to choose from and who can go wrong with melon wrapped with prosciutto the perfect combination of sweet and salty.\u00a0\u00a0Well, you may have just had me at prosciutto\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kihachi.jp\/restaurant-cafe\/shoplist\/nagoya\/\"><strong>Kihachi Nagoya JR Central Towers<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0\u2013 Taking it up a notch \u2013 enjoy this unique atmosphere where a wine cellar greets customers at the entrance.\u00a0\u00a0Serving French cuisine and fabulous wine in a dynamic setting.  A more formal vibe, but worthwhile to treat yourself for at least one night.  \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Kyoto:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kyoto-nishiki.or.jp\/\"><strong>Nishiki Market<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;\u2013<\/strong>&nbsp;The perfect place for variety including street food, snacks, and desserts!&nbsp;&nbsp;Perhaps not necessarily the traditional cuisine you might find, but variety is the spice of life and of course lots of ice cream stalls to choose from for dessert!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.awomb.com\/\">AWOMB<\/a><\/strong><strong>\u00a0\u2013<\/strong>\u00a0Want a truly unique experience then book this place in advance!\u00a0\u00a0Sushi with a twist \u2013 giving you the play-by-play instructions on how to eat what looks extremely complicated.\u00a0\u00a0A great venue \u2013 cozy and bright, filled with light and a platter of food which will make your taste buds explode with the flavours and textures.  The arrangement of food is captured beautifully.
